About Me

My name is Jack Barnhill.  While my background is in information technology/hardware services, I am also a hobbyist woodworker, novice 3D modeler and this is my first blog.  I have taken a few woodworking classes but, mostly, I read a lot and learn as I go.  As such, I have no particular expertise in either woodworking or furniture design or 3D modeling, just a desire to learn and to share what I learn hoping to help other novices however I can.

I’m still learning and improving my 3D modeling and woodworking skills (and now learning about web site and blog building) and would like to share what I learn with others hoping that it will help them and hope that they will share their knowledge and experience as well so that the readers and I can learn from them too.

I’ll be blogging about my projects, digital and real. As I learn something I will pass it on.  I invite everyone to share their comments so that we can all learn.

Please take a few minutes and check out my site especially my blog and the image galleries. Then drop me a line and let me know what you think about what you see here and what you would like see on this site.

Back to learning,

By learning you will teach, by teaching you will learn.

 About Pixels & Sawdust

Pixels & Sawdust is my web/blog/store site.  I wanted a place to document and share my experiences in learning to design woodworking projects in SketchUp, improving my woodworking skills by building the projects and, then offering models and plans for those that my want to build their own verison of the project.

And so, Pixels & Sawdust was born.

Some readers who are advanced woodworkers or SketchUp modelers might find some of what is written on this site a little basic and maybe even wrong.  If so, I hope you will correct me and share your advanced knowledge with the rest of us in a friendly, supportive, mentoring sort of way.

It is my intent to regularly update this site and hope you find your time at Pixels & Sawdust is both informative and enjoyable.  Please leave a comment or drop me a line to let me know how I’m doing with providing useful information.

The best way to follow it over time is to use one of our Subscription Options.

Have a great day,
